Research Interests
Medical Ethics
I am interested in questions of modern medical ethics while my focus is on the ethics and theory of digitalization of medicine. I do mostly conceptual ethical research on algorithmic decision-making, artificial intelligence, and informed consent in an age of digital medicine. Recently, I have expanded my research interests to methodological issues in bioethics, especially non-empirical methods and digital bioethics.
History of Medicine
I am interested in the history of medicine in antiquity. I published on questions of historical urology, rheumatology, dermatology, venereology, occupational medicine, as well as on diseases of civilization and affluence. Over time, I extended the chronological frame by also researching the history of medicine of the Early Modern Period. The most recent historical papers cover also the 19th and 20th century.
